Delicious & Healthy: 10 Top Wholesome U.S. Restaurants
"This charming mother-daughter restaurant serves lunch (try Greek Isle Quesadilla with sunflower ranch dip) and dinner (raw Lasagna with zucchini noodles), but their brunch deserves special praise. Start the day under an umbrella at one of the outside tables and feast on tempeh bacon, egg or tofu scrambles with fresh veggies and a side of harvest hash." Article

"RAW Berry Cheesecake from Pomegranate Café
"Pomegranate Café makes a lot of incredible -- and typically very healthy -- lunch and dinner items that we want the recipes for, but if we can only get one, we have to know what goes into the RAW berry cheesecake (or any of the cheesecakes, for that matter). We know the crust is made from dates, nuts, and coconut and that cashews are somehow included, but how does all that turn into anything like cheesecake? And how do they jam so much fruit flavor into the bite-size portions? We have too many questions and not enough answers."

... "If, by chance, I lived in a house made of vegetables, I hope it would be built by Pomegranate Café's mother-daughter chef duo Marlene and Cassie Tolman.

... "Poetry and culinary magic unite at Pomegranate Café, an Ahwatukee restaurant that focuses on a new way of eating. By 'utilizing fresh organic ingredients' to 'tempt the palate and create wellbeing,' Pomegranate Café’s ever-expanding menu defies the idea that healthy foods must lack flavor. My experiences at Pomegranate Café have confirmed that the health foods at Pomegranate Café are true indulgences, delivering tastes of wondrous vibrancy in every bite." More

"Dessert isn't supposed to be healthy, but that doesn't mean that it has to be entirely bad for you, either. Pomegranate Café's large selection of pastries and desserts expertly toes this line, bringing the best of both worlds: indulgence and health-consciousness. All desserts are made in-house from organic ingredients, all-natural sweeteners, alternative flours, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, dates, and high-quality fats...." More >

... "We have so many people who die-hard support us because they support our mission," Cassie said. "If it doesn't work right for us one day they'll come back and continue to support us because they want us to succeed and they want a business like us to succeed. It's really people saying: what do we want from our community and from the world? I think the vote is for small business, local and for people who have their hearts in the right place. That's really what people are supporting."

"My interest in poetry and literature helped me conceptualize Pomegranate Cafe by supporting the idea that ordinary, everyday work can lead to magic. Opening Pomegranate Cafe has been transformative. Through lots of hard work and practice, what was once an empty, abandoned wine bar in a strip mall is now a bustling, thriving, vibrant cafe!"

"Pomegranate Cafe is a vegan restaurant but they do offer some things in vegetarian form if you ask. They offer lots of raw and gluten-free options and even if something is not gluten-free just ask and they maybe able to make it happen. And last but not least they use local, organic produce to create their amazingly healthy dishes. This place is the real deal, real food made with love.

"I had a great time. My meal was filling but because it was made of such pure ingredients, it fueled me without weighing me down at all. I also got a lot of inspiration for future dishes that I will cook. This place really epitomized my love for healthy food done in a creative way, and I am glad to have discovered it!"
